This is How I Go When I Go Like This

Weaving and Spinning as Metaphor

by Linda Collier Ligon

If your have been a subscriber of Interweave Press’ Handwoven magazine, you will recognize this author.  This book, designed and edited by staff and contributors at Interweave, is a collection of Ligon’s essays from twenty-five years at Handwoven.  The essays have been artfully arranged to flow through this weaver’s life experiences.  I’m sure you will relate to more than one of her stories.  As she writes, “…weaving and spinning connect us to a rich past. …weaving and spinning connect our brains to our very own hands. .. connects us to each other.  .. give us meaning, balance, harmony, peace, stimulation, community, friendship, joy – the fabric of our lives, literally and figuratively.”  This is How I Go When I Go Like This is a delightful, thoughtful book to read.  So, when the mind and heart are still in front of the loom, or spinning wheel, but the body cannot be, like during plane or car trips, take this book along, and never be far from your love and dedication to the craft.
