Upcoming Programs
April 6 - Swedish Huck Weaving by Ruth Byers
May 4 - Spindle Wheels by Barb Wingert*
June 1 - Fiber Blending in the park - Brief discussion on mixing fibers in roving. Then make your own roving on a drum carder by blending your choice of sheep breeds, alpaca, mohair, silk, and/or. flax. Bring your wheel and spin what you just concocted..

* Barb sent me an e-mail which describes in more detail the program she will do. She wanted to make clear that it was not a drop spindle demonstration. She writes:
“I just thought I would touch base with you about the May meeting to let you know what I will be presenting so you can put it in the newsletter. So far, I have been listed as “Spindle Spinning” which I would like to change since people might think I would be presenting drop spindling and I will not—watching me definitely makes you know why they call it drop spindling! I thought “Spindle Wheels” might give a more accurate description. I will be bringing a Babe Great Wheel and a kick spindle, the Mother Marion’s Magnificent Spinning Machine (which the inventor invented so his
drop spindle impaired mother in law could spin on a spindle.) If time permits, I can also show Ply on the Fly which is Navajo plying on a spindle so you end up with 3 ply yarn.”
